What is sustainability ? Sustainability is the use of current resources to meet the needs of the present generation without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. Sustainable development encompasses three main pillars which are. 1. Environmental 2. Social equity 3. Economic Traditional annual reports lack accountability as they highly emphasise on the achievement of profits. Corporations can go to great lengths in order to maximise profits, even if negative externalities are produced along the way. This is why sustainable development is an important aspect because it makes corporations accountable for their actions. The SDG In 2012 the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development established a set of goals to work towards.
